Last night I presented at this event

Obviously attended by mostly PAs/EAs in the corporate space.

I did my usual floor show, and I was in fact teaching them about conversational rapport using Universals and Truisms. I was very blatant about them, and the results you can get, for example, people think you are "normal", which really means "like me".

After the event at least 5 people came up to me and said things like "that was the best presentation I have ever seen, you are great.....etc". Which is lovely, but what followed was the kicker. In all cases they said something along the lines of "oh, you are just like me. I felt like I was watching myself up on stage saying the things that I would say. You think just like me".

So, I would consider this a successful demonstration of how Truisms and Universals can build rapport to the extent that people think you are "normal"!
