I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

I have just got off the phone from a client who was a little cross. We were having a mentoring session, and she shared that she was very frustrated because her role is to evaluate the training being delivered in her organisation, and her findings so far indicated that most of the trainers she is working with really are lecturers.

Not that there is anything wrong with being a lecturer. Her frustration comes because they think that they are being trainers....and they're not!

To compound the issue, most of them hold the Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and believe they are done with learning about training.

*sigh*

This got me thinking about Seth Godin's recent book Tribes, and the need for people to get passionate about stuff and create a movement.

So, I'm creating a movement. And it's about calling a spade a spade.

Standing in front of a group of people with 150 slides, and reading from them is NOT training! Training is about the effective development of skill. Skill that can be felt and demonstrated in the body, not just thought about in the head.
