Stop Breathe Think Focus

I had the pleasure of facilitating a two day offsite with a great team this week who were engaged and focused on making their work work. It caused me to reflect on a number of things that I think contributed to the success of the session.

In the past, I have attended and facilitated many meetings where the agenda was so crammed that there was no room to breathe. I have even seen agendas itemised down to 2 min increments!

It's so rare for large or dispersed teams to come together face to face that we need to make time for them to reconnect. The agenda this week gave participants time to talk and deepen relationships and we got some really good strategic planning work done.

I think it's about giving people a chance to stop, breathe, think, and focus.

Stop - disconnecting from the day to day

Breathe - taking a moment to orient to the present

Think - allowing space and time for processing and reflection

Focus - resetting and giving attention on what needs to be done

What do you think?
