What business wants from HR: Systemic, Purposeful, & Egoless

I have spent the past couple of weeks talking to clients and colleagues from various industries and organisations undertaking some informal research around what they thought the key skills that were needed for their HR teams. Please note, these questions were posed to Business Leaders, HR Leaders, and L&OD Leaders.
The unfortunate result of my anecdotal conversations was that a number of people still generally described their HR functions as “missing the point”. However, the answer to the question around what skills were needed was gold. Here is a mash up of what I heard:

Interestingly, none of the people I spoke with talked about transactional HR skills or competencies. No one said “I wish they would recruit better” or “I wish they would do workforce planning better”.
They all talked about how HR partners with the business (or not), and in many cases the lack of customer intimacy that was present.
Ask me how I can help transform your HR function.
Cheers,
Donna
