Why is giving good quality feedback so difficult?

For many managers, providing timely and quality feedback can be a real challenge.
Sometimes we wait until formal appraisal time and do a half year of feedback in a 1 hour meeting! And yet other managers find the time in their day to day work to give regular feedback.
Two books that I think all managers should read on this topic are:
Classic: One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard
Here you are getting a quick structure that can be delivered in a moment. In my view it’s THE model for timely, thoughtful and appropriate feedback.
New and brilliant: Fixing Feedback by Georgia Murch
I love love love this book! Georgia takes a no-nonsense approach to managers having quality conversations with their teams and making feedback an integral part of your management process, rather than something separate you do as an “event”. My favourite quote “Your truth, plus their truth is THE truth”.
Try to incorporate ongoing good quality feedback into your management style, let me know what impact it has.
